What happens to your screenshot

Chatwell is built so that there is nothing to leak. This page explains the pipeline in plain words; the same facts are in the Privacy Policy.

The pipeline

  1. Your screenshot is uploaded over an encrypted connection and held only in the server's working memory for the duration of one request.
  2. A vision model reads it and returns the conversation as text. The image is released the moment that step finishes. It is never written to disk, object storage, logs or error reports.
  3. The conversation text is kept for 15 minutes in an encrypted, memory-only cache so you can ask for new suggestions without re-uploading. Then it is gone.
  4. The replies are sent to your screen. They exist on our side only while the request runs.

What we do store

  • Your account: email, display name, language, timezone.
  • Your voice profile and the sample messages you gave us, until you delete them.
  • Threads, only if you press Save to thread, and only the conversation text.
  • Usage metadata: counts, timestamps, tone and goal names. Never the text of a conversation or a reply.

What we never store

  • Screenshots. Not in a database, not in a file, not in a log.
  • Conversation text beyond the 15 minute cache, unless you save a thread.
  • Reply text, unless you turn on the learning toggle in Settings and edit a reply.

How you can check

An automated test in our build fails if any code path could write a screenshot to disk or storage. Export everything we hold about you from Account, any time, instantly. Delete everything from the same page.
